Karissa Ella spent 2022 carving out her place as one of the must watch emerging talents on the country music scene on the back of buzzworthy singles “Whiskey Whispers Your Name,” “Vintage,” “Hometown Bar,” and the ultra-powerful, “Beautiful Is You,” as well as a high-profile tour position as support for country superstar David Nail.

Though her last few songs have been on the softer side, Karissa blasts into 2023 with the unbridled energy of her groove-laden single, “Well Tequila.”

The slick guitar lick drops into the intro and immediately pulls you in and gets your hips popping before the girl next door charm that’s naturally embedded into Karissa’s voice slides in to captivate your senses.

Instantly shrugging her shoulders and owning the simple fact that tequila makes her get a little wild, Ella sings in the opening verse of how it only takes one shot to get her acting like she’s got nothing to lose; reiterating that same sentiment in the second verse when she knowingly nods to the fact that while she knows she should leave the bar without having another one, “we all know how tonight is gonna end.”

The raise your glass anthem then punches into the insatiable catchy chorus, which keeps you swaying along as the fiddle saws while you scream out the lyrics that remind you of how a drink or ten always gets your acting invincible:

“Well, tequila’s got me feelin’

Like I should climb up on the bar

Fight a bouncer, dance around like I’m a Grand Ole Opry star

When I’m a feelin’ a little buzzy, and the evening's a little fuzzy

Yeah, there’s only one thing I know I can blame

Well tequila”

By cleverly name-dropping popular tequila brand names throughout the song - El Jimador, Corazone, Blanco, and Reposoto – she adds a party flavor to the atmosphere that says it doesn’t really matter what kind, just hand me the shot glass and imma throw it back.

The instrument drop surrounding the clap along rhythm into the final chorus then injects this with a memorable aspect that also perfectly lends itself to an audience participation moment that makes this a stellar addition to the energy of her live shows.

Karissa Ella was already making a buzzworthy name for herself in a crowded music scene with several lyrical masterpieces that had the listener reminiscing on their hometown way of life and living, but the ultra-catchy “Well Tequila” has just moved her way up the ladder toward monumental breakout success with its irresistible melody that’s soaked in twenty-something relatability.
