No stranger to country music fans, Ty Herndon has charted 17 songs throughout his illustrious career, including #1 hits “What Mattered Most,” “Living in a Moment,” and “It Must Be Love.”

Terri Clark, his duet partner on his new single “Dents On a Chevy,” is absolutely a household name, having achieved 5 million albums sold and a slew of hit singles that includes “Better Things To Do,” “I Just Wanna Be Mad,” “Poor Poor Pitiful Me,” and “Girls Lie Too.”

The song, written by Starner Jones, Leslie Satcher, and Will Robinson, is the second lifted from Ty’s highly acclaimed 2022 album JACOB, and follows the charting success of “Till You Get There.”

The toe-tapping, tempo driven melody through the intro is the perfect set up for getting you invested into the groove, before Herndon’s smoothly delivered vocal slides in and enwraps you into the feel-good lyric where he quickly displays the positives that he’s been thinking about his relationship; how good it is, how they like the same things, and how them being together feels so natural.

Clark then delivers somewhat of an answer type lyric in the second verse, recalling the classic call and answer idea when she praises her better half with a listing of why her life is better because of them, singing that they give her reasons to laugh, smile, and get up and go the extra mile.

With an already heartfelt lyric surrounding the listener, the song gets injected with an ultra-catchy, danceable rhythm in the chorus that immediately has your shoulders bouncing through the very memorable, comparative lyrics:

“We go together like sand and good weather

Like tacos and Tuesday nights

We go together like pirates and treasure

Small towns and two red lights

Yeah, we go together like bonfires on a levee

Beers in a Yeti, dents on a Chevy”

Into the final chorus, the song masterfully pulls back the instrumentation to a simple strum of guitar to provide an irresistible, clap along moment that expertly transforms into your personal celebration of the ones who love you and stand by your side.

Ty Herndon’s resurgence to country radio over the  past year has once again made him a strong name within the country music genre. While each song he’s released carries his recognizable signatures, elevating his remarkable voice to the forefront while encapsulating a 90’s branded sound, they’ve also shown his willingness to craft the right tweaks into his style so that they fit freshly into today’s modern era.

“Dents On A Chevy” certainly achieves that and then some, and it wouldn’t be a surprise us to see it quickly race up the chart and put Ty in position to secure his next #1 song.
