When his last single “Fire” released earlier this year, Dane Louis injected a hard rock edge to his modern, southern rock kissed country that perfectly accented his rough around the edges vocals to entice the listener with an anthemic, fist pumping rhythm.

The Iowa native now returns with his brand new single, “Bad Guy.”

Written solely by Louis, the moody guitar licks that build through the intro strike the listener with a rock infused melody while smashing into a fresh take on a driving heartland styled alt. country to perfectly set the tone for the resentment fueled lyric.

Having already consistently proven his know how around utilizing his voice to properly convey the right emotions, Louis takes us through an open letter told from the perspective of the guy who’s always having to helplessly watch the girl his heart is for walking away from him and into bad, toxic choices for who she dates instead; always resulting in her inevitable heartbreak, while ultimately leading him to his own.

Wrapped into poetically written lines such as “I was finally fine, I was headed north again…Til it all went south the day that she walked out,” Louis pulls together hurt, revenge, and the confusing emotions that naturally arrive in broken hearted situations while leading us to the chorus where he elevates his frustrations of being the reliable good guy for her, only to keep ending up on the sidelines; lamenting in plea like fashion that if becoming wrong for her is what it takes, then…

“I’ll make him the good guy, baby I turned bad

Turn my cheek and say goodbye, to what we had

Cause I could be that drunken fool, that calls you late at night

I could resurrect your heartache, with the touch of a dial

So, if you feel like breaking your heart, just one more time

I’ll make him the good guy, baby, I’ll be the bad guy”

Giving the guitars the room to shred through the bridge while coupling the riffs against the gravel punches of his voice that flow through him naturally, continues to expertly allow Dane Louis to further stamp down his signatures while giving firm definition as to who he is as an artist and a transparently honest songwriter; the attributes that have already helped him solidify a solid fan base and give his career a strong foundation to stand on as he continues to ascend.
