CALLIE PRINCE
"Broke-In Heart"
Independent Release
Callie Prince has been making a name for herself in the Nashville music community, building one strong release on top of another since bursting out with “Right Back Home” in 2020, and then following with “Look at You,” “Fallin’ Out,” and “On A Beach.”
She now returns with her brand-new single “Broke-In Heart,” and once again, she’s elevated her sound, honing deeper into her signature vocal style and crisp, connectible lyrics to continue defining herself one song at a time.
Co-written by Callie, David Evans, and Marc Oriet, “Broke-In Heart” takes us straight into that emotional moment when your heart is just sort of there; in between being broken into pieces and being completely healed.
The softer pace allows Callie to put her vocals in the spotlight as they carry the melody while pulling the listener into each line of the lyrics as she lifts her voice at the end of each sentence of the verse to add a unique exclamation point while listing the various ways that we personally try to numb our pain, while essentially sharing that the heart doesn’t need any of these things to heal: a shot of whiskey, friends checking in on it, a one-night stand, etc.
With a very cool, unique perspective, Prince then hits the chorus and places focus on all that her heart has already been through, and how those experiences toughened her up in many ways:
“It’s been busted, it’s been beaten
Til it’s turned black and blue
Hard to believe it’s still beating
With all the hell it’s gone through
It’s gotten real used to the leaving
And it don’t hurt no more
When someone it loves has had enough
And walks right out the door
Like a truck that keeps on runnin’
With wore and rusty parts
It’s kind of hard to break a broke-in heart”
One bold line in the bridge, “here’s a message for the next one,” sees a shift in dynamic to an ultra- positive outlook as she issues a warning, but also proves that she’s not given up on love no matter what she and her heart have been put through.
With a resume that is already full of accolades and praises, “Broke-In Heart” becomes the latest song to move Callie Prince forward as she takes another leap ahead on her path within the blueprint that she’s creating in a crowded Nashville music scene.
