ANDREW JANNAKOS
"Heaven's Like A Hometown"
RCA Records Nashville
“Heaven’s Like A Hometown”, the new single from Flowery Branch, GA native Andrew Jannakos, represents a culmination of a few rarities that exist in today’s country music. A new release from a fresh, young singer-songwriter that’s one of the more sentimental, thought-provoking tunes to hit the country music airwaves in months.
Co-written by Jannakos along with Eric Arjes, Matthew McGinn, and Jordan Minton, the track tells the tale of all of the elements that we love about our home town, so much so that we envision these collectively as “heaven on earth”. Further, it is a desire that, when our time on this earth comes to an end, that where we end up (heaven) will be a mirror of where we began (our hometown).
It’s a topic that stirs up a number of thoughts and emotions, and the lyrical specificity paints a beautiful portrait of what it’s like to live in a small town. It’s inspirational, faith-induced, and delivered with an honesty that will resonate with the listener long after the final second.
“I ain’t ready to go
But when he calls me home
To that map dot up in the clouds
I hope heaven’s like a hometown”
Growing up with a long list of diverse musical influences, Andrew garnered a huge influx of fans and followers during his appearance on season 16 of The Voice on NBC. But it wasn’t until a year later, in July 2020, that a video of him cooking dinner while singing along to a song he wrote went viral and took his popularity to new heights. The result was an unprecedented response of hundreds of thousands of likes, followed by the release of the song “Gone Too Soon”, garnering over 15 million streams while also entering the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and making Jannakos debut at No. 1 on the Emerging Artists list.
With a traditional upbringing and a wide variety of musical influences, the direction of this southern boy’s career could go in anywhere, but the sky appears to be the limit. Fans only have a few chances to catch a live show in 2022, with dates currently scheduled in Alabama, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
