One of the greatest blessings we get to experience through doing Today’s Country Magazine is watching a young artist find their voice, grab hold of their unique style, and continuously rise with each song they release while consistently creating a major buzz that surrounds them.

That’s exactly what we’ve been able to witness since we first met Bailey Marie a little over a year ago and she told us about her song “HEROES.”

The triple threat singer, songwriter, and actress, has come a long way since then, discovering her pop country sound, which she blasted at the music scene in a BIG way with her incredible single “Beautifully Broken.”

Never one to settle in place, though, Bailey has now returned with her newest single “Writings on the Wall,” and has elevated her sound and overall vibe to amazing new heights to solidify herself as one to watch.

Co-written by Bailey and Liz Hill, and produced by the legendary Kent Wells, the song immediately grabs your attention with its catchy, snap along groove through its intro, as she then slides her crisp vocal into the opening verse and takes us on a journey through the gamut of emotions that unexpectedly arrives when a best friend takes another path in life and leaves you and your longtime friendship lost in its wake.

I guess all good things come to an end,” Bailey laments in the opening verse, setting in motion the many ways she’s feeling as her memory has taken her back to the night that her former friend lied about her, prompting her to then frustratingly ask out loud, “How could you do this to a friend?”

Further expressing her emotions in the second verse, she admits that she can’t forget the way she initially felt and confesses that she’s struggling with the forgiving and forgetting part, leaving her emotions stuck in a flurry of confusion, hurt, and spite as we see in lines of the chorus such as “I know that you know that what you did was cold,” while she scornfully scolds through the hook, “Can’t take it back…Cause the writings on the wall!”

Bailey Marie utilizes the power of her vocals in all the right ways to perfectly capture the rollercoaster of emotions, and although it carries a feeling that it’s about best friends going separate ways, its written in such a clever way that it can also easily resonate for someone who has recently experienced their relationship falling apart, which helps to add an intriguing element that allows this song to span a wide range of who can connect their own story to it.
