In country music and across all genres, there are certain songs that grab our attention because they are unique in subject matter or they tell a story which we have never heard before.  Then, there are songs that we hear and love instantly because they are beautifully written, and are so unapologetically accurate.

Inspired by his high school sweetheart and now his wife of six years, Dylan Scott has released “Can’t Have Mine” via Curb Records.  It is a testament to who he loves and why he loves her, while offering his own set of advice for someone else seeking to have what he has in a relationship.

Written by Scott along with Dallas Wilson, Josh Melton, and Matt Alderman, the tune is a friendly listen with a simple message, but it is delivered with the honesty and undeniable yet subtle passion of a man in love.

Find you a girl that leaves you speechless

Gets wild on the town but still loves Jesus

One that’s worth the wait even when she ain’t on time

Find you a girl that loves her daddy

And talkin’ ‘bout babies makes her happy

But the final two lines of the chorus offer the edge that we come to expect from Dylan:

Yeah, take it from me, that’s the kind you need to find

You just can’t have mine

The track follows his hit “New Truck” and is off his 2022 album ‘Livin’ My Best Life’.  With a devoted following and an ever-growing fan base, Scott is on the cusp of becoming a household name in country music, with songs like “Can’t Have Mine” only propelling his status as a star.
