Twenty-two year old singer-songwriter Angie Rey has released her latest single, “Ex”, now available on all streaming platforms.

The country music genre is full of love songs and breakup songs.  That is the nature of the industry and this genre specifically, as the extremely intense feelings of love as well as heartbreak are what often drives people to write and sing.

The challenge, for an artist, is to be able to sing about such a common themed topic and shine a little brighter than the rest.  Rey’s performance on this track is flawless.  Her edgy, youthful approach to the empowerment of a breakup is a unique avenue to take and something that certainly puts her in another, less-populated category.

No matter the age, we all experience the end of a relationship in a different way.  And while the initial emotions are usually sadness and pain, there is an eventual sense of realization as to why it ended and the empowered feelings of why we are better off without the person.  The ability to move on lyrically with the sultry confidence Angie portrays is impressive, if not inspiring.

Written by Truman Bradley Crisler, Victoria Banks, and Candace Mycale Guyton, “Ex” is the second studio single produced by Jase Williams and Trey Bruce, following “I Ain’t the Middle of the Road”.

With a musical maturity well beyond her years, the Southern California native and Tampa, FL resident has been singing, writing, and performing music since before she was in school.  From successful appearances and La Voz Kids and American Idol to sharing the stage with the likes of Scotty McCreery and Jerrod Niemann, Angie Rey has her sights on becoming a house-hold name in country music.
