Music is the soundtrack to your life. When you are going through something, you want to hear songs that can relate. That’s just what Trace Adkins' new single is all about. “Heartbreak Song” talks about the singer wanting music therapy, not the upbeat party songs. It has a catchy melody, the lyrics flow and Trace makes you feel the emotion in his voice.

“‘Heartbreak Song’ is a song I’ve had in my back pocket for a few years,” shares Adkins. “I’m excited that this is the first release from my upcoming album.”

This was a perfect choice for his first release from his 13th LP. It’s such a great song for his voice - and, as with all of his songs, Trace sings it from his heart. He sings it like he lived it. I think we can all say we've lived this one. No matter the mood, you want a song that feels it with you.

Johnny Garcia, Greg Crowe, and Adam Wood are the songwriters on “Heartbreak Song,” and those guys are some of my favorite songwriters, so it’s no surprise that I can listen to this song on repeat and never get tired of it.

It’s nearly the 25th Anniversary of Adkins’ first album Still Dreaming Out Loud and he is going strong.

“There’s nothing else like it. That is still my favorite thing to do in this business: go into the studio with some lyrics and a melody and then let the finest musicians in the world help turn it into something magical. It liberates me,” says Adkins.

“I also can’t wait to share some exciting new collaborations with some of the friends I’ve made throughout my career,” Adkins continues. “Getting together with folks in the studio has been a fun way to reflect on the last 25 years and makes me look forward to 25 more.”

Trace, I can't wait to hear those collaborations and am looking forward to many more years of great music. If “Heartbreak Song” is any indication, the new album will be a fun one to add to your collection. I mean, if it comes on vinyl, buy it. Buy a CD. I know, I know, I'm old. I'll stream it too. But I'd also buy it in all the ways it comes. And request it on all the stations.   Because sometimes you need a heartbreak song.

I feel like this song should be his next hit song. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
