Adam Hood has released his new single, “Speed of the South”, available on all streaming platforms now.  This is a more autographical account using metaphors and lyrical imagery that is left open to the interpretation of the individual listener more so than some of his earlier releases.

Written from the perspective of a musician living in the south, the song shares the ups and downs, internally and externally, of someone trying to overcome societal and cultural shortcomings in order to succeed in the music industry.

And I feel like a rock with nowhere to roll

But I’ve come too far to sell my soul

And everybody moves at the speed of light

And I barely get around

Moving at the speed of the south

Adam has established himself as a skilled, sought-after songwriter in the industry, having penned tunes for Miranda Lambert, Brent Cobb, Muscadine Bloodline, Travis Tritt, and The Oak Ridge Boys.  In 2018, he released his critically acclaimed album, ‘Somewhere in Between’, and now is back with highly anticipated new music, led by the release of “Business With Jesus”, “Harder Stuff”, and now with “Speed of the South”.

Adam’s single, “Harder Stuff”, formally introduced himself to the wider music community, as the song features reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, Miranda Lambert.  The tune broke the Top 15 of the Americana chart, and is currently climbing the Texas chart.  Now, with one song climbing and another being released, Hood is riding the momentum as one of the artists to watch in the genre among fans, critics, and industry executives.

“Speed of the South” will be included on his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Bad Days Better’, due for a September release.  He has tour dates scheduled across the south from now through October, including his record release show on September 17 at Bobby’s Idle Hour in Nashville.
