Little Big Town have gone through many different stages since breaking through to radio with “Boondocks. They’ve been the good-time summer band with songs like “Pontoon” and “Day Drinking,” have tugged hard on emotional heartstrings with “Girl Crush,” and have found their signature center with stellar harmonies and bluegrass inspired country bops such as “Little White Church.”

While Karen Fairchild of the group took center stage on a lot of their more recent smash hits, with new song releases “Hell Yeah” and now “Rich Man,” the fellas have stepped back into the spotlight and refreshingly offer a different flavor and depth to the mix then what we’ve grown accustomed to lately from Little Big Town.

Coupled with the announcement of their new album Mr. Sun getting a release date of September 16, 2022, the group released the softer paced, lyrical driven “Rich Man,” an incredible, much-needed song for the times we’re faced with right now that was first heard by fans when it was performed during CMT’s Campfire Sessions.

Written solely by the groups Jimi Westbrook, it makes sense then that he would be the one singing leads on it as it’s obviously a lyric that was born straight from his heart so the honesty needed to uphold the power of the song could only come from within its writer.

Yeah, I’m a rich man without a lick of money,” begins Westbrook and immediately perks your ears as he begins to pull you through a lyric that not only describes himself, but more importantly the true definition of what it means to be rich in life when he thankfully focuses on appreciating everything that he’s blessed to have that matters most:

I got everything I need, got love and a family”

“God’s been good to me, better than he had to be.”
“I’m a red, white, and blue man my daddy fought to free it.”

Westbrook and LBT lean into their signature harmonies throughout the power of the chorus to lift the initial point that started in the opening line as they sing of being rich without money simply by loving the ones who are surrounding them with love, leading to the hook “life is just that simple to me, yeah, I’m a rich man!”

With all that is going on around us in the world today, this is the type of song we need as it acts as a bold reminder of what’s most important in making a great life. Couple that with the honesty in the melody and the truth in the delivery of the lyrics and Little Big Town strikes the right chord with listeners and positions themselves to hit at radio through a song with purpose.
