Australian singer/songwriter Katrina Burgoyne made a big impact on the country music world stateside when she released her 2021 EP The Next Big Thing, and the lead single from it, “Tennessee,” unexpectedly earned her tremendous accolades and huge industry buzz.

Since then, Burgoyne has spent time building her fan base, playing major songwriter rounds around Music City, and trying out her new songs on the live audience as she continued writing while also living out her own personal love story (more on this later).

With both the fans and music industry standing by patiently and waiting for what was going to come next, Katrina has now answered that question with “I Wanna Get Away With You,” an ultra-modern pop country smash that is certain to catch fire and catapult her forward into her next chapter.

Burgoyne pulled the lyrics straight out of her own love story, saying about the song, “(it) shares the story of falling in love with my husband quicker than expected, after he photobombed me in a honky tonk bar on Broadway in Nashville. We dates for three weeks before I flew home to Australia. Two months later he arrived in my small town to ask me to be his girlfriend. It's about feeling lucky in love and getting away with stealing someone's heart."

The catchy, tempo driven vibe immediately gets you swaying along as we’re invited straight into the emotions that came wrapped up with the early days of meeting the one as she first reveals that she never had any plans of settling down until that fateful night that he photobombed her on the rooftop bar.

She then unravels their true-life love story and their instantaneous connection, quickly moving the lyrics to a steamy night together in his car where she felt her heart falling for him, admitting in the chorus that she told him on that very night:

“I wanna get away with you , and be the lucky one

That takes it too far, that gets out of here with you.”

Though the topic of falling in love is nothing new to country music, whenever an artist is honestly open with their own story and allows the listener to be a part of it, something amazingly special emerges through your speakers.

Katrina Burgoyne taps into those early lusting/falling emotions perfectly, and transparently shines a light on the moment that she knew she was falling in love, giving this song the “aww” factor while also giving the listener a chance to be reminded of when they first fell in love with their better half, adding the connectibility factor that will always elevate a song to hit status.
