Since first breaking onto the country music scene in 2015 with “Suitcase,” Steve Moakler has been constantly evolving within his modern pop country style to create songs with depth and meaning while continuing to build on his fan base and create a strong grassroot following.

With the first taste of his forthcoming album through “Make A Little Room,” Moakler delivers a modern country gem with a feel-good vibe that’s perfectly built for summertime’s warmer weather months that will keep you swaying along the way that a great groove should.

However, beneath the feel-good, mid-tempo melody and all the summery feels, sits lyrics that are the truly gripping factor to helping this song become one of the most important releases right now.

I took the long way home with the windows down, found a feel song and I turned it up loud,” is the line that opens the song and instantly begins to paint a picture of needing to change up some things in your normally fast paced life as Moakler wraps his crisp, clean voice around you and pulls you to the line that sets the motion of the song when he sings, “Been a long time since I noticed, since I slowed down.”

This song then quickly becomes a bold reminder to make a little room in your life to experience the simple joys of it, as he sings through the chorus:

Make a little a room for the sunshine and the good times and the Saturday nights

Make a little room for the real talks, and the long walks, and the color outside the lines

Put a little more space between living and dying

Find more of what money can’t buy

Cut it loose dancing, a little romancing

Before it slips right through your hands man

Make a little room.”

Through the second verse he continues honing in on the idea he set during the chorus as he sings of turning off the television, calling an old friend, taking a little extra time with just he and his better half, etc.

With the perfect placement of two very solid lines, “Life can fly by in the blink of an eye” and “you could spend a lifetime just waiting on the right time,” Steve Moakler gives us the biggest nudge that reminds us that life is too short and that we only get these moments once in our lifetime, while subtly challenging us to make the most of them because they mean so much more than you think!
