BRETT ELDREDGE
"Songs About You"
Warner Music Nashville
Country music star Brett Eldredge is back with a brand new single, “Songs About You”. The new track, which will also be the title of his forthcoming fifth studio album, follows its successful predecessors “Holy Water” and “Want That Back”.
The song follows a familiar theme -the aftermath of a breakup. Specifically, it tells the tale of being unable to move on from a lost love, and how listening to music, no matter what type, brings him back to the memories that he holds so dear and that haunt him ever since the end of the relationship.
“’Cause sometimes they make me dance
Sometimes they make me cry
Sometimes they make me wish
That I had never said goodbye
Now I’m just tryna get through
These songs about you”
This track is impeccably relatable, detailing how when you are involved in a relationship, whether it’s new or old or ended, everything reminds you of that person. Love songs, breakup songs, party songs, dance songs – no matter – they all remind you of that one person…in this case, the one that got away.
Eldredge’s voice is remarkably on-point as always, effortlessly delivering the vocals alongside a steady drum beat and sophisticated guitar riffs, offering an infectiously catchy tune about a somber topic.
Written by Eldredge along with Ben West and Jessie Jo Dillon, “Songs About You” joins “Want That Back” and “Holy Water” on the upcoming album, due out on June 17th. He has tour dates scheduled in the UK and Germany this spring before returning to the US for some appearances throughout the summer.
