Grammy-Award winning country quartet Little Big Town is back with a new single, “Hell Yeah”.  The tune was debuted at the CMT Music Awards on April 11th after it was formally released earlier that day.

The group hit a bit of a dry spell, having not charted a top 30 song on Billboard’s airplay chart since 2016’s #1 “Better Man”.  Written by members Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet along with Corey Crowder and Tyler Hubbard, “Hell Yeah” appears to be on the fast track to becoming another long-awaited chart climbing single for the group.

Phillip Sweet is on lead vocals for the new track, offering a new sound / dimension to the group’s undeniable diversity.  His vocals are appropriately subdued through the verses, but there isn’t much alteration between that and the chorus, which leaves a bit to be desired.  The emotion is absent from the overall vibe of the tune, which takes a way from the overall impact to the listener.

Produced by Little Big Town and released via Capitol Records Nashville, the song does dot the “I’s” and cross the “T’s” for the popular songs in modern country music, with its catchy beat and its instinctive play on words that will find its way into the heads of listeners.

Hell yeah, I go get drunk of Friday nights

Hell yeah, I’m dancing under neon lights

Hell yeah, I’m smiling so that you can’t tell

But if you’re ever wondering baby if I’m still

Going through hell, yeah

Going through hell, yeah

You’ve moved on and I’m still here in Hell, yeah

This latest single from this incredibly talented country supergroup is not the greatest release of their career by any stretch, but it should offer a return to radio popularity and acceptance they surprisingly have been lacking over recent years.  To accompany the release of “Hell Yeah”, which should serve as an introduction to an eventual new album, LBT will be hitting the road throughout the spring and summer across the country, as well as dates in the UK and Ireland.
