Ever since the debut of her single “Waves” in October 2021, Sarah Darling has been teasing the country music masses with the potential upcoming release of her new EP.  “Song Still Gets Me” followed, and now her latest offering, “Pretender”, comes with the promise of the EP in the spring.

Written by Darling along with Emily Shackelton and Cameron James, “Pretender” is a ballad, but with a contemporary twist and vibe that is in Sarah’s wheelhouse, right where it belongs.  Her voice is vulnerable yet powerful, seductive yet bold, telling the story of a lesson learned and how one can improve upon oneself after a failed relationship.

With any relationship that doesn’t work out, there is always blame to spread, and this song finds the balance between recognizing the fault of an ex-lover, while also realizing that she should have seen the shortcomings sooner.

Yeah, maybe I should’ve known better

You’d change your mind just like the weather

But you said that you would love me forever

Baby, you’re my favorite pretender

Darling has released five full-length albums to date, over 20 million streams, 11 million video views, and nearing 100 appearances on the Grand Ole Opry stage.  The latest collection of tunes, including “Pretender”, serves as the next chapter in what has already been a momentous career.

In support of the new music, Sarah will hit the road on her ‘Coastin’ Tour’.

“I’ve never been more excited to be touring the US again, and with this new music,” she said.  “I can’t think of a better way to share the new music than to bring it directly to those who have supported me from Coast to Coast.”

The trek will take her across much of the US in the spring before heading overseas to the UK later in the summer.
