“Wishful Drinking”, the new single collaboration between Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt, is the first new music from Andress since her Grammy-nominated album, ‘Lady Like’, and is the first offering from Hunt since 2020’s ‘Southside’.

Released via Warner Music Nashville, this is a song about a commonly overused topic, but is delivered with the clever lyrical ingenuity and modern musical runs that we have come to expect from both of these artists.

“Maybe I’m just wishful drinkin’

Give my heart somethin’ to sink in

Better make it two, nothin’ I won’t do

For another round of me and you”

While Andress sings the opening verse, Sam comes in on the second, and their voices harmoniously come together effortlessly to engulf the listener into the musical heartbreaking nature of the tune.

There is the R&B element to this track, which has become more prevalent with recent releases in country music the past few years, but there is just enough subtle additions of the acoustic guitar and dobro to find its niche along the boundaries of multiple genres.

Ingrid has been on the road throughout the fall with Dan + Shay on their “The (Arena) Tour”.  “Wishful Drinking” is the first hint at new music since ‘Lady Like”, which was nominated for Best Country Album, while she was also nominated for Best New Artist as well as claiming a nod for Best Country Song for “More Hearts Than Mine”. Fans can catch Hunt at a slew of festival dates in 2022.
