LADY A - A Love Song - BMLG

It seems as though Lady A has been a part of the country music framework forever.  In fact, for the young generation of fans, they would not recognize the genre without the award-winning group comprised of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood.  Since releasing their debut album, ‘Lady Antebellum’, in 2008, the trio has been captivating audiences and topping charts as one of the most consistently successful acts in country music.

Their latest release, “A Love Song”, is the latest testament to the ability, ingenuity, and musicianship with which they continue to share with the world.  Beautiful harmonies, thought-provoking lyrics, and smooth, swaying melodies have been fans’ favorite elements of Lady A, and rightfully so.  But on their latest effort, Hillary, Charles, and Dave slow things down and focus on the lyrics and vocals, telling a tale of sorrow and heartbreak.

Written by Haywood and Scott along with Sam Ellis and Allison Veltz Cruz, “A Love Song” features a piano-driven melody that perfectly supports the vocal exchanges between Scott and Kelley as they deliver emotionally distressing lyrics.

“Sad songs always seem to be the ones that move me deeply,”, Hillary shared.  “When we sat down to write this song, we really decided to brave the deep of telling a story of a couple at the place in their relationship where they are realizing this not be a forever love.  It’s a heartbreaking story but one I think many will relate to.”

Yearning for more and hoping for a happier ending, the pair croon and harmonize their way through a tale of a relationship’s crossroads and the emotional toll it has taken as they wish for a simple, forever kind of love.

“When lonely’s on the radio

I turn dial because I know

It’s a soundtrack of you and me

I hate that most of our memories

Are some sad melodies”

Scott and Kelley, as usual, are perfectly on point while complimenting each other magnificently, elegantly, and effortlessly.  The melody presents perfect backdrop for the melancholy tune, paying appropriate homage to the song’s focus of the lyrics and the story.  It’s yet another addition to the trio’s catalogue that represents its own chapter.  While we have become accustomed to being impressed by each sample of new music we hear, the trio continues to offer something unique to keep fans yenning for more.

Widely recognized as one of the more accomplished groups during their decade-plus career, Lady A has tallied 11 No. 1 hit singles while accumulating over 17 million units and 34 million tracks sold along with nearly 5 billion digital streams.  Having amassed countless awards including seven GRAMMY Awards, Billboard Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, as well as ACM and CMA Awards, they have solidified themselves as one of the most successful bands of their generation.

“A Love Song” follows the fan favorite and critically acclaimed “Love You Back”, while the trio recently wrapped their REQUEST LINE TOUR which included support from Dave Barnes.  They are set to appear on Opry Country Christmas, scheduled for December 11th in Nashville, while fans can anxiously anticipate new music and appearances from Hillary, Charles, and Dave in 2024.
