Molly Lovette first truly captured the spotlight with her 2020 release, “One Woman Show.”  However, with “Break A Heart,” “Love You Loud,” and her brand-new single “Hey Hey,” Lovette has continued to unveil all the different sides of who she is as an artist while still holding a firm grasp on the modern country influences that she carries within her style.

“Hey Hey,” her most current release, delivers a vibe and tempo that is destined to make this song an easy addition to any summertime playlists.

The feel-good song tugs you in as soon as the opening drum beat hits and gives way to the quick, catchy intro before turning things over to Lovette’s incredible vocals which perfectly deliver the fun, flirty, and crushin’ on you lyrics.

“A little fun and messing around on a Friday night,” is the line that opens the song and sets the tone for how the girl’s night out on the town was supposed to go as she sings of drinking a little too much and just having a good time with her girlfriends – until “he” walked in.

The “he” in question is an old friend that she hadn’t seen in a while, which she describes later in the song as “looking fine.”

The chorus moves the night from just hanging out with girlfriends, to a now flirtatious level that the two reacquainted friends of the opposite sex experience as they start to connect: “sippin’ and singing, start reminiscing,” “people talking, we start walking,” etc.

Where Lovette shines is within her ability to drop a thought into our minds without ever crossing a line into the too risky as she sings, “You wanna take me to your place,” before she then just simply drops that thought on us with the hook of the song, “Hey Hey.”

This song is really fun. Its groove gets stuck in your head, Lovette has the perfect innocence in her voice to uphold the lyric, and it hits on many levels with anyone listening as we’ve all had these experiences.

“Hey Hey” is built for the modern Top 40, and although it is absolutely a summertime song, it’s one of those rare type that will be able to resonate with listeners any time of the year which should make it the breakout hit that Molly Lovette has been knocking on the door of having.
