Summer songs in country music have become a dime a dozen these days, so when an artist gives us a song that’s geared toward the warmer weather months, they must find a way to make it truly stand out through its ability to connect with its intended target audience.

Mark Taylor does just that with his debut single, “Buzzed on a Boat.”

The up-tempo song, written by Taylor, laces its instrumentation with synth and electric guitars to give it the traditional type of summery vibe that we’ve come to expect from a song like this. However, it’s his ability to use specific imagery in the lyrics that will make this anthem perfectly connect with those who are out on the lake having a big time under the sun.

Targeting the specifics, Taylor sings of how Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville” is blasting through the speakers, and how he has a cold Bud Light in his hand, rather than just saying something like music on the radio or how he’s drinking an unnamed beer.

The chorus carries a melody that gives the song that very specific put your arms above your head and sway side to side feel, while the lyrics stay simple and to the point – he and his crew are getting “buzzed on a boat.”

“Out on the water drinking all day; ain’t nothing better.”

“While I’m doing shots with the band.”

“Fruity drinks pouring.”

Like most feel-good summer songs, “Buzzed on a Boat” is built to be performed in front of a live audience, and it would be a heck of a lot of fun within the atmosphere of the carefree boat crowd at a place like “Party Cove.”

With a full-length album due out later this year, “Buzzed on the Boat” should create the necessary buzz (sorry for the pun) to make the album release that much more anticipated.
