Kasey Tyndall quickly became an artist to watch with the release of her song “Wrap Around Porch” in 2019, and that buzz is what makes her brand-new single “Middle Man” so anticipated.

Co-written with Lainey Wilson (“Things A Man Oughta Know”), the softer ballad reveals another layer of who Kasey Tyndall is as an artist and songwriter as she takes us on an autobiographical journey through what it was like to live her childhood with divorced parents.

Starting in the here and now, Tyndall opens the song with the line “I hope mamma never hears this song and I’d hate to make daddy feel guilty,” before bringing us straight to the past where she sings of how all those road trips to meet up with her dad every other weekend is what built her.

Very descriptive lines in the chorus help to paint the perfect picture as she sings of being in the backseat between her sister and a suitcase, meeting up with her dad at the Texaco gas station with a check in her back pocket, etc.

The second verse, however, is where Tyndall shows us how all those drives shaped her into who she is today as she talks of listening to rock-n-roll music, learning how to talk to Jesus, and how she got real good at leaving.

In the final chorus, Tyndall brings us back to the here and now with the addition of one line. Whereas the choruses prior to this one state, “I was too young to understand,” this final chorus flips the script when she says, “Now I understand, broken hearts are just part of the plan.”

“Middle Man” invites you into the heart of an artist, shows you who they are and where they come from, and pulls on the heartstrings of anyone that’s experienced a similar situation. This is raw, real, and honest…or as the legendary Harlan Howard once stated, “three chords and the truth!”

This is just the first of many scheduled released from Kasey Tyndall this year, and it has certainly done the trick in getting us excited about what’s still to come from her down the line.
