Though his latest EP, Meant to Be, was recorded in Nashville, Music City didn’t have much an influence on overtaking Max Flinn’s Texas dance hall roots as is evident on “If I Didn’t Love You,” his third single release from the EP.

Driven by a prominent fiddle, the up-tempo song puts to rest any unclear reasons why he would do all the things he is doing for the girl he is sweet on when he asks the questions, “why would I try so hard just to be where you are?” and “why would I walk these miles just to see your sweet smile?,” of course it’s only to answer them with “If I didn’t love you.”

He later laments of how every prayer he’s prayed and wish that he’s made wouldn’t have ever come true “If I didn’t love you.”

What I absolutely love about this lyric is that while it could have just been a run of the mill love song, Flinn instead brings us to where their love story is at today when he sings of how his house would have been empty, his heart run down, and how he would have been on a lonely road without her by his side – telling us that they are in fact together.

This is a surefire dance hall smash that leaves plenty of room within the instrumentation to hit the hardwood floor and get your boot heels clicking – especially as it extends to nearly one full minute sans vocals to close the song.

Since his debut release in 2017, Flinn had charted two songs on the Texas radio charts, and it doesn’t surprise us any that “If I Didn’t Love You” has become his third.
