Adam Hood’s new single, “Harder Stuff” is one of the most personal and emotionally prominent releases in recent memory from the Alabama native, who has also announced that his fifth studio album, Bad Days Better is set for release soon.

“Harder Stuff”, which features the reining ACM Entertainer of the Year Miranda Lambert, is an honest and vulnerable account of when Adam decided to quit drinking.  Self-described as a “magic moment” by Hood, this song offers the listener a glimpse into the internal struggle he faced at a very difficult time in his life, and the decision he made to improve his life and the emotions he felt before, during, and after.

The ability to put those feelings into words can be difficult when the subject matter is so personal, but Hood, along with co-writers David Nix, Charlie Starr, and Brent Cobb, excel with the soul-baring, stripped down exposed nature in the lyrics and somber undertones through the varying melodies that perfectly articulate the mood and emotion.

These days liquor don’t write my songs

It ain’t right for a family man

To build a house on shifting sand

Don’t think that I’ve given up

I’m just taking on the harder stuff

This isn’t a song to listen to while driving down the highway, hanging out with friends, or drinking a beer on a Friday night.  But this is something we all need to hear, and to appreciate the power that music can have on the writer, the performer, and the listener.

With news just beginning to break regarding the specifics of his upcoming project, fans can catch Adam on the road throughout the summer with dates scattered across the country.
