“I think I just wrote a song about if Elle became an unsub,” Chloe Collins enthusiastically exclaimed as she shared a promo clip of her new single “That’s on You” across her social media platforms a few weeks before its official release – a song which was inspired by the breakup of Criminal Minds characters Spencer Reid and Elle Greenaway.

However, even though the song itself may have found its muse through a situation on the popular television drama, Chloe Collins crafty songwriting prowess has her delivering it so strongly from a first-person point of view that it becomes ultra-relatable to anyone who is spitefully heartbroken.

With catchy, punk rock inspired guitars surrounding spitfire kiss off lyrics, Collins blasts us into the song by singing:

I put your pictures in a pile

And I burned them with a lighter

And it caught my drapes on fire

Baby that’s on me

As she continues to do in the verses throughout the song, she isn’t afraid to embrace the crazy that came out of her in the aftermath of the breakup while fully placing the blame for those specific moments squarely on herself, whether it’s making her neighbors think she’s crazy when she blasted The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter,” re-reading all their old texts to try and figure out where they went wrong, or even considering showing up at his door even though she knows that he’ll just slam it in her face.

All these circumstances, though, are designed to drive you to the punch of chorus where she then flips the script and puts the blame on him for making her lose her mind by his moving on a little too easily to the next girl.

The spiteful giddiness shines brightly in the lines that pull you out of the verses and into each chorus, when Collins sings such memorable lyrics as, “And I’m so happy that you’re happy, oh wait…sike” or “He’s not even that big girl…it’s not worth it.”

Chloe Collins has already been carving out a tremendous path among the Nashville music scene; landing song placements on popular television shows Nashville and Heartland, while also scoring a recent Top 40 on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Chart with “Somebody Else’s.”

But regardless of her previous success stories, “That’s on You” is arguably Collins strongest song yet and continues to put on a bold showcase of her unafraid willingness to stretch outside the box to unravel different layers as to who she is as an artist and songwriter, just as she’s also showed us earlier this year on “Red Looks Good on Me.”

That said, it’s a pretty safe bet to say that “That’s on You” is going to open the next chapter for Chloe Collins in major ways as it will catapult her forward and quite possibly surpass her previous Top 40 achievement and land her inside the Top 30 - or higher!
