Kelsea Ballerini put herself on another level of popularity with the release of her 2020 album, ‘Kelsea’, and based upon the first track of her upcoming new project, the sky may be the limit for the talented Black River Entertainment singer/songwriter.

“Heartfirst” is a pop-country tune to its core, offering simple, catchy sing along lyrics alongside a bubbling beat to keep the listener intrigued from start to finish. Telling the story of a new found love interest and the willingness to put inhibitions and uncertainties aside and follow your heart into the unknown of a new relationship.

Could be forever, or we might break

That’s just the kind of risk that we take

My head is yellin’ that I could get hurt

But I’m gonna jump right in, baby, with my heart first

Co-written by Ballerini along with Alysa Vanderheym and Karen Fairchild, the tune is a spring-time, radio friendly offering to re-energize her fan base in anticipation of a new chapter in her musical catalogue.  From a songwriting standpoint, the song isn’t monumental in her taking a next step as an evolutionary artist, but there’s no denying the likability of the music and catchy lyrics.

The interesting aspect of Kelsea’s career thus far is that she has achieved monumental success as a country artist as well as a pop artist, but one has not been achieved by escaping from the other.  Bursting on the scene as an up-and-coming country pop songstress, she attained new-found stardom over the last several years, highlighted by her run with The Jonas Brothers on their extensive nationwide tour.  Conversely, she was nominated for Music Event Of The Year for her single “Half Of My Hometown” with Kenny Chesney, as well as performed a duet with country music icon Dolly Parton, as the 2022 ACM Awards.

Kelsea has a handful of tour dates scattered across the country, and fans can expect more news regarding her new album as well as a possible tour on the horizon in hopefully the not-too-distant future.
