Following the release of the songs “Dicked Down In Dallas” and “Single Again”, outspoken and rough-edged singer-songwriter Trey Lewis is back with a more subdued, nostalgic track, “Hate This Town”.

This tune is all about reminiscing about your upbringing and how much you miss it when you’re away.  Coming home is a common theme in country music, and for good reason…it’s something with which almost everyone can relate.  This topic packs an extra-powerful punch, though, coming from Lewis, who has become known for his rough and tough demeanor.

Trey taps into the younger version of himself on this track, remembering the times as a kid when he wanted to get out of the town where he grew up, only now to see it from the other side and wishing he could be back there.

“’Cause now when I leave it I can’t wait to come back

I get that 17 feelin’ when I cross railroad tracks

Always wishing I was here no matter where I’m at

It’s like that hometown ground keeps on calling me back

To where I grew up, where they’re gonna lay me down

Can’t believe I used to hate this town”

The Birmingham, AL native offers a stunningly nostalgic side on this track, which is a bit of an escape from the rock-out, party-anthem attitude many country music fans have been first introduced to by his prior-released tunes.

In addition to headlining gigs this year, Trey landed the biggest trek of his career thus far, an opening slot on Kid Rock’s Bad Reputation Tour, taking him across the country throughout the summer.
