The latest single from Sony Nashville recording artist, Mitchell Tenpenny, is “Horseshoes and Hand Grenades”, representing the first release from the singer-songwriter’s upcoming ‘The Low Light Sessions EP’, available everywhere April 15th.

Tenpenny had a lot to with this tune, having co-written it along with Dallas Wilson and co-producing it with Jordan Schmidt, and serves as an adequate preview of what we can expect from his upcoming 8-track offering.

This song is classic Tenpenny – a country track with acoustic rock elements revealing a somber tone perfectly accompanying his subdued yet quietly powerful vocal ability.    Creative, thought-provoking lyrics will stay with the listener long after hearing the tune, and Mitchell’s ability to wear his heart on his sleeve is as evident as ever here, with his emotional delivery pulsating through every lyric.

When a few drinks turn into midnight dancing

And pillow talk turns into weekend plans

That early morning ends with I’ll call you again

But one of us is lying, one of us is trying

There’s a reason why the heart has a ribcage

There’s a reason why a car has a handbrake

I’m a hopeless romantic from the first second

On the first date

“Horseshoes and Hand Grenades” follows his collaboration with Chris Young – “At The End Of a Bar” and his most recent album, ‘Midtown Diaries’, which produced the radio hit “Truth About You”.

‘The Low Light Sessions EP’ will be released April 15th, at which Mitchell will be on the road as part of an extensive trek across the country.  Following a string of special events and festival appearances, he will take off on Luke Bryan’s Raised Up Right Tour, stretching into late October.
