“I Love This Life.”

“One Big Country Song.”

“I Know Somebody.”

At this point in their careers, LOCASH has already defined themselves as one of the strongest duos in country music today; a fact that continues to be upheld by another ACM Award nomination in 2022.

So, where do they go from here? That’s the million-dollar question for any artist who rises to the stardom that LOCASH has.

They have defined themselves with up-tempo, feel-good songs that clearly make them the life of the party, and while in many ways their new single stays that course, they’ve also have thrown their hat into contention to own the radio airwaves during the warmer weather months with their summertime anthem, “Beach Boys.”

Lifted from their recent EP Woods and Water, the song instantly connects with the listener as they open with the hook of the very popular Beach Boys classic “I Get Around,” earning Mike Love and Brian Wilson a writing credit on the song…but more importantly, perking up your ears and pulling you into the infectious groove as Chris and Preston then deliver lyrics that see the two country boys, ditching their back road roots to head for “where the map turns blue” – which we’ll later find out to be Mexico when the lyrics sing of heading way down south to where the sun hits, trading in ball caps for sombreros, and shooting Jose Cuervo instead of Jack Daniels.

Cleverly designed to paint the pictures that will lead to the hook of the song which challenges their rowdy friends, “Let’s take the country to the beach boys,” through the chorus we get a juxtaposition between country life and salt life as they use several lines to define both sides of the equation:

“Trade that red dirt in for sand.”

“Get a little bit of red on my redneck.”

“Drop a lime in the bottom of a long neck.”

Amongst the good time vibe, there are some namechecks to Brooks & Dunn, and the expected check in on the Beach Boys when they mention mixing up rum with some Kokomo – a reference to the groups #1 hit from the movie Cocktail.

This is a song that has a lot of the flavor that we’ve come to expect from LOCASH, while still swerving just enough outside the box by fusing a surf city type of sound into their modern kissed country mix. Ultimately, this contender for that barrage at summer songs starting to head to country radio has set the bar high and is surely going to find its way to many playlists to accompany your warm weather fun!
