(Review by: Jeffrey Kurtis)

Nestled inside the complex of 6th and Peabody -  where you’ll find Ole Smoky Moonshine and Yee Haw Brewing - Spreading Hope with Keith Griner welcomed country music fans for the “Women of Country Edition” of their popular live music series that they do in conjunction with “Hope on the Row,” an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for Nashville’s unhoused community.

With this amazing cause acting as the backdrop for the entire evenings event, Diamond Dixie, the Florida based duo made up of sisters Gabriela and Bianca LeDuc, took the stage for a rousing full band performance to kick things off with a catchy punch of modern pop country that immediately had the crowd bopping along with their onstage energy as they opened their 30-minute set with “Through with You.”

The type of crisp harmonies that you’ll only get with family-based groups/duos was prevalent the minute that they hit the first chorus, and they instantly turned heads toward the stage and had people who walking by outside the venue, stopping on the other side of the open garage doors to take a quick listen.

With a great crowd interaction moment that saw audience members connecting with Bianca through her allowing them to provide the people’s names to insert into the song’s introduction story of karma, she then very skillfully had them fully invested as they kicked into their next song, “I Think It’s Funny.”

Jetting back to the crisp, signature harmonies that we experienced earlier, Gabriela and Bianca came together to let them fully shine during the a cappella opening of “Gone and Moving On” before the band kicked the song into high octane; a feel which they then kept going as they then quickly slid into a rebel rousing cover of “Keep Your Hands To Yourself,” which allowed them to show off their rock kissed edge and great stage presence as the two sisters commanded every side of the stage.

After an amazing rendition of their song “Lock It Up,” Bianca paused to provide positive, encouraging words before playing “Limitless,” the only slower paced song of their set.

“We’ve been playing music for 15 years together now, she began. “There’s always going to be those people who are there for you and supportive of you, but unfortunately, there’s always going to be a group of people who want to tear your down, too. I’m here to say that if you have a dream you want to chase, then ignore those negative people and chase your dream!”

With the familiar riff of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” dropped quickly into the outro of “Without Your Love,” Diamond Dixie earned an incredible ovation from the crowd as their sets final notes were played, clearly a showing of how much they won over the usually tough Nashville audience in a monumental way.

Nearly 1 million followers surround their social media pages and they’re already playing some of the biggest stages, so you could say that Today’s Country Magazine may be a little late getting to the Diamond Dixie party. Or perhaps, if you’re just like us and jumping on board with them now, then it could be that we’re all perfectly placed in the moment just before Diamond Dixie explodes into their next chapter and takes the country music scene by storm in a big, big way!
